The event will take place at Royal Paragon Hall, Siam Paragon Shopping Center, on 22–24 February 2013, under the theme “Live & Learn in Wonderful Thailand.” It will include an exhibition on a variety of international education choices for all levels, such as long-term international programs and international curriculum, as well as short courses from leading institutions.
More than 250 booths from domestic and overseas exhibitors will be on
display, and over 10,000 participants are expected to attend the event.
The Director-General of the Department of International Trade Promotion,
Mrs. Srirat Rastapana, stated that the Government’s policy is to turn the
country into an international education hub. In response to this policy, a new
strategy has been launched in 2012 to urge international students to come to
study in Thailand, with an emphasis on three strengths: leading academic
institutions with international standards, a variety of curriculums for all
levels of students, and educational exhibitions and activities by both domestic
and overseas organizations.
The strategy seeks to increase the number of international students from
neighboring countries, particularly Brunei Darussalam, Laos, Myanmar, and Viet
Nam, as well as other countries in East Asia and South Asia. The major
competitors of Thailand are Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Singapore, and
Malaysia.
Today, there are more than 400 international institutions in Thailand which are under the supervision of the Office of the Higher Education Commission, Ministry of Education. Out of this number, more than 100 are international schools and a number of them have been guaranteed by overseas academies. About 100 tertiary educational institutions have more than 20,000 students. There are almost 200 state and private tertiary educational institutions and private schools with English-language programs, while more than 10 are vocational schools.

Thailand’s friendly environment, its central and easily accessible
location, the expertise of its teachers in every field of study, the standards
of educational institutions, and low costs give Thailand the advantage in its
aspiration to be Asia’s international education hub.
